Ever since Josh Taylor became the undisputed super-lightweight champ, he struck a rivalry with many fellow boxing stars. One of his top rivals is no one else but the undefeated Gervonta Davis. The back and forth between the two men has surged for a substantial while, and many wish to see them settle their feud in the ring.

Taylor recently spoke to Max Kellerman about rival Gervonta Davis and a possible fight between the two men.

He said, “Well, if he wants to call his self a champion, the only way he can do that is face myself,”

“And there’s no way, I don’t think, him or his team wanna put him in with a real, serious threat, with anyone, soon. So, well, we’ve yet to see ‘Tank’ Davis in with a serious fighter at his own weight. And so, we’ll see how he fares and competes against someone when he’s in an even match.” (h/t Boxing Scene)

Taylor became the undisputed super-lightweight champion last year. Since then, ‘The Tartan Tornado has’ looked eager for an elite name who could offer him a rugged title defense fight.

‘Tank’ sneaked into the picture when he bagged the WBA ‘regular’ super-lightweight strap. But to everyone’s surprise, he later vacated the same.

There’s no actual reason revealed as to why Davis left that belt. But it can be assumed that he’s focused upon his run in the lightweight roster, and ‘Tank’ isn’t willing to budge an inch from what he actually wants to do.

Josh Taylor has a title defense fight in contention already post which he might scale up to welterweight.

Also, if ‘Tank’ competed in the super-lightweight frame, then a fight between the two men would have seemed possible.

For now, there’s no concrete ground for this fight and it’s unlikely that this fight will happen in 2022. Till the duo actually squares off, fans can enjoy the banter and trash talks.
