Mayor Johnson, a long-time supporter of Errol Spence Jr. proposed the bet on Twitter. He put forth a proposal that if Terence Crawford emerged victorious in the fight, he would send a Texas-style title belt from Wild Bill’s Western Store to Mayor Stothert in Omaha.

“@OmahaOfficial how about we raise the stakes of the #SpenceCrawford showdown with a friendly wager? If @terencecrawford wins the undisputed welterweight title on July 29, a Texas-style belt buckle from @WildBillsDallas is yours! @ShowtimeBoxing @PremierBoxing @ErrolSpenceJr” he wrote.

 

However, not to be outdone, Omaha’s mayor Jean Stothert quickly came out and accepted the wager showcasing her confidence in ‘Bud’. Along with this she also revealed her share of the bet if Crawford were to lose to Spence.

Stothert’s office responded to Johnson’s Tweet and enthusiastically accepted the wager, demonstrating her unwavering support for her hometown champion. Moreover, if Spence Jr. came out on top in the bout, she pledged to send Mayor Johnson an assorted box of prime cuts of meat from the renowned Omaha Steaks, a company synonymous with quality beef and a source of immense pride for Omaha.
