Luis Ortiz announced his return to the ring in an emphatic fashion with a 45-second KO win over American boxer Alexander Flores this past weekend. With the win, ‘King Kong’ came back to winning ways after losing to Deontay Wilder back in November 2019.
The Cuban boxer continues to impress and has shown no signs of slowing down. In conversation with Fight Hub TV, Ortiz called out former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz for a scrap inside the boxing ring.

Via a translator, he said, “The immediate fight, the immediate future, is Andy Ruiz. That what he wants. That’s who it is now. It’s two fighters looking for jetpack, looking for redemption. Ruiz looking to prove it wasn’t a fluke, and Luiz proving that he still belongs that he’s not too old.”
Andy Ruiz shocked the world when he dethroned Anthony Joshua to grab the unified gold early last year. However, Ruiz showed up way overweight than his last fight and put on a dismal performance in the rematch. ‘AJ’ won with a comfortable unanimous decision win to reclaim his throne. After the rematch, many boxing fans called his first victory nothing but a fluke.
It’s hard not to agree with Ortiz. Andy Ruiz has a lot to prove, and a win over the former WBC heavyweight title challenger could just set things right for ‘The Destroyer’.

Andy Ruiz vs Luis Ortiz is an exciting fight
Ruiz was phenomenal against Anthony Joshua when both the boxers shared the ring inside Madison Square Garden back in July last year. He looked aggressive and was winning the fight in the judges’ scorecards before securing a seventh-round TKO win. However, the same Ruiz failed to show up in the rematch. Needless to say, his first win over fan-favorite Anthony Joshua went in vain.
The 31-year-old American boxer of Mexican descent has not stepped inside the boxing ring since then. Luis Ortiz is 41 and proved to be quite a match for Wilder. When ‘King Kong’ takes on ‘Destroyer’, it is bound to be a barn-burner. It is an exciting match-up and one that can put both the boxer right at the top once again.
