Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis finally faced each other in the ring after months of build-up. During the lead-up, the match carried a lot of hype due to various obstacles delaying the fight’s confirmation. However, everything gradually came together, and the bout came as an ultimate gift to the boxing world. Both fighters were self-assured and didn’t hesitate to express their intentions of knocking each other out.
It seems even more wholesome now that the duo has already moved past the beef they had. And it looks like Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya also agrees with the fighters. De La Hoya shared his approval recently on his Instagram.

Ryan Garcia is signed under ‘Golden Boy Promotions’, which is owned by Oscar De La Hoya. As such, the two have been together for a long time. In fact, they have been working together since Garcia turned pro in 2016. So it is understandable that De La Hoya spoke a lot against Davis before the fight. He claimed that Garcia will shock the world by defeating Davis and start his legacy. De La Hoya has now surprisingly moved past all the previous beef and shown his support for Garcia and Davis.
In a recent Instagram Story, Oscar De La Hoya shared a picture of Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis standing together after their fight. In the picture, the duo was seen posing with smiling faces. He wrote in the caption, “That’s what it’s all all about”, showing that he agrees with the duo moving past all the previous beef they had. It is also understandable that much of the previous animosity was shown in order to sell the fight. However, it seems, for now at least, both of the fighters don’t hold any resentment towards one another.
What’s next for Ryan Garcia?
Coming off the first loss of his career, it seems Garcia has already locked his sight for the higher division. It is highly unlikely that the fans will get to see Ryan compete at 165 lbs again. With having to cut a lot of weight, coupled with the rehydration clause, it is safe to say Ryan Garcia probably had the shorter end of the stick in this fight. However, Garcia seems to realize that and has made it clear that if there is going to be a rematch, it will only be at a higher weight class.

“Come back stronger and who knows, maybe we’ll have a rematch at 140 or 147 after I rack up a couple of wins,” he said. Garcia, during the post-fight interview, also shared his intention of moving up to the super lightweight category. Despite his loss, Garcia has already shown his boxing prowess and is poised to have more thrilling matches in the future.
