“That’s the Fair Game Cheap Shot”: Boxing World Goes Berserk as Infamous Cheap Shot Clip Resurfaces Online

Boxing as a sport is not free from ill practices and unfair play. A boxing fight is driven by passion and a lot of emotions. And, even though the boxers don’t intend to switch to unfair means. Sometimes the intensity of emotions can get to them and force them to do something unfair and against the sport’s rules. A viral video surfacing on the internet echoes such a moment. The video raises an imperative question of whether the punch landed by the boxer is legit or against the rules. The same question has left fans divided. In a recent video, a boxer turns to what seems to be an unfair punch right at his opponent.

In the clip posted by Fight Haven on Twitter,  a boxer does not waste any time and lands a punch at his opponent right after the opponent brings his gloves forward to touch them with the other opponent. This punch has left the fans perplexed, and the nature of the punch is still ambiguous.

As the duo touches their gloves, the boxer lands a left hook knocking his opponent down. Notably, the opponent was not expecting any attack yet as he was not in his boxing stance and left himself as an open target for the boxer. The hook landed right at the larynx of the opponent. And as soon as the hook made contact. The opponent collapsed on the canvas.

This video does raise a lot of questions about the unfair means which are practiced in the sport. And a recent video of a cheap shot from another boxing match infuriated boxing fans.

Fans react to the punch

@XtianAudio encapsulated the whole confusion about the nature of the punch and called it a “Fair game cheap shot.”

@DaStashY believes that the boxing matchup is fair, but when it comes to the punch landed, He believes that it was a cheap shot and not a good imprint on the honor of the boxer.

@TimApeishforAMC believes that it’s the opponent’s mistake, too, as he was not defending himself, and his hands were relaxed and not protecting him.

@IndividualX would’ve not spared the boxer who landed that punch if he would’ve been a promoter.
