

Savannah Marshall is one of the highest-rated female boxers in the world right now. The undefeated Englishwoman has slowly worked her up the ladder in the professional scene and currently holds the WBO middleweight title. Ahead of her first title defense, Marshall has spoken about a potential bout against Claressa Shields.
Shields is a two-division undisputed champion and arguably the greatest women’s boxer of all time. However, many experts believe Marshall has what it takes to give the American superstar the toughest fight of her career. And ‘The Silent Assassin’ has given her take on the fight.

The 9-0 boxer spoke to SecondsOut on YouTube and gave her honest opinions. Marshall said, “I’d love for that fight to go ahead. That’s, that’s the biggest fight out there for me. And I’m not denying it.” Therefore, this comment showed Marshall is not shying away from facing ‘T-Rex’ Shields.
The Englishwoman then added, “So it’s whether she wants it or not, isn’t it? And I believe, because of the size and magnitude of what that fight can be, I do believe, I do believe it will happen.”
With this comment, Marshall shifted the focus on Shields not wanting the fight since the American has accused her of the same in the past.

Savannah Marshall provides a timeline for the fight
‘The Silent Assassin’ made no secret of her desire to fight the two-weight undisputed champion. However, the important question for fans will be the potential date for the fight, and Marshall provided an update on the same.

When asked about the tentative date of the fight, Marshall replied, “Um, this year. It has to happen this year.” This comment will excite fans as Marshall and Shields are the two most exciting women boxers in the world at the moment.

Shields fought Marie-Eve Dicaire in March, and Marshall fights this weekend. Therefore, the timeline will work well for both fighters. Furthermore, since both want to make the fight, it appears as though we will get to see this highly anticipated bout by the end of the year.
