Unsurprisingly, this incident got the world talking. Many accused Jada of manipulating Smith into slapping Rock. However, renowned rapper Charlamagne The God came to her defense on Logan Paul’s podcast. In the episode, he and co-host Mike Majlak were discussing the incident and Majlak asked the rapper if he felt Jada was pulling the strings.
However, Charlemagne stated that he felt Jada had nothing to do with Smith’s breakdown. ” I don’t think she had nothing to do with that, I really don’t. I mean other than that’s my wife and I’m tired of people playing with me about my wife.” He said.
Charlamagne defends Jada Smith
He defended her saying that people unnecessarily pressured her. Furthermore, he then gave his thoughts on what might have caused Smith to act that way. He claimed that this could have been the result of his childhood trauma that can affect individuals throughout their lives.
“I don’t believe that I think that’s putting too much on her. If you’ve read Will’s book or even listened to his interviews, Will has like has a lot of pain he hasn’t dealt with, trauma he hasn’t dealt with. He used to watch his mom get beat up by his dad and he always felt like a coward cause he didn’t intervene. I think that that’s something that stays with you the rest of your life.” He added.

Charlemagne certainly has an interesting take on Smith’s debacle and feels that it could be related to his childhood. However, only Smith knows for sure what might have caused this lapse in judgment.

Why did Will Smith slap Chris Rock?
The incident occurred at the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022. Rock made a joke about Jada’s hair loss, comparing her to a GI Joe movie. “Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see ya,” he said.

However, this did not sit well with Smith, who went onstage and smacked Rock in the face. To Rock’s credit, he was highly professional about this and tried to play off the situation. Moreover, many felt that Smith’s reaction was necessary considering the relationship he had with Rock over the years.
