Drug testing is an essential part of boxing or any other sport for that matter. It is essential to maintain equality in sports and ensure that every sportsman moves in unison with the rules and fairness of the sports. It is certainly disheartening for fans to hear the news of professional boxers failing their drug tests ahead of their scheduled bouts And, it is safe to say that it does not shed a positive light on the sport. The fans were eagerly waiting for Hanna Gabriels and Claressa Shields to lock horns on 3rd June. But however, the boxing world has come to hear the saddening news of Gabriels testing positive on her drug test.

After the news of the 40-year-old failing her drug test took the boxing world by storm, her promoter and the owner of Lou DiBella Entertainment took to the media and released a statement about Gabriels’ failed test leading up to the fight against Shields.

Following the test, Gabriels was pulled out of the match against Shields. And now, Shields will be fighting Marciela Carnejo for the undisputed middleweight championship. The news of Gabriels’ failed drug test comes at a time when Conor Benn has been at the center of attention in the sport for his controversial failed drug test.

Fans are angry with the reason Lou DiBella gave

DiBella said, “Her dog had major abdominal surgery. She applied the medication to her dog, and that’s how it got in her bloodstream.” It is safe to say that this reason did not sit well with the boxing fans. One fan claims that this is the best excuse he has heard in a while for any boxer failing their drug test.

Another fan believes that boxers are now going to the extent of having their dogs treated while they are in the camp to support their excuse.

For one user, this is better than Conor Benn’s excuse of eating too many eggs.
