Jaron Ennis sent out an important cautionary message about opportunities to his fans on his Instagram Story. Ennis himself is an ambitious rising boxer, and started his reign as the IBF Interim Welterweight Champion, right at the beginning of 2023. All of his fights have been a completely explosive package for all the combat sports fans, where he’s only peaked in improvement with time. With his perfect record of 30-0, he’s the top contender among the best Welterweight boxers right now. So, when a boxer of his caliber comes out and talks about opportunities and dreams, everybody from the media to fans pays attention.
The last fight of ‘Boots’ against the Ukrainian boxer, Karen Chukhadzhian was a one-sided brawl. This caught the eye of many boxing fanatics, and most of them even started looking at him as the potential next ‘face of boxing’, but all of the attention soon deviated from him, and was invested more in the main event fight. This taught a great lesson to the boxer, and it sparked something in him.

Ennis has a beloved and loyal fanbase, with a total of 291k followers on Instagram. He tried to fulfill the responsibility of a well-known personality, as he tried to share his life teachings in the hope that they may come useful to somebody. He wrote in his Story how nobody should be desperate and welcome every opportunity that knocks on their door.
In his words, he said, “Don’t be so thirsty for opportunity that you drink from every cup handed for you. That’s how you get poisoned.” What he meant to say is that if you’ll try to grab every opportunity that comes your way, there’s a chance you may make a fool of yourself.

Now this message isn’t talking against being ambitious. As Ennis himself is an ambitious athlete, well for one it was evident by his interview with Hardcore Boxing News after his co-main event fight against Chukhadzhian under the Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia fight card.
He said, “I feel like I’m not a co-main event fighter anymore. Well, I never was. I feel like I’m a main event, pay-per-view anything.” Even though he had an impeccable victory, it was overshadowed by the main event which witnessed Davis’ technical knockout in the 9th round. So this sparked something in the boxer, and now he’s determined that he wouldn’t be fighting on the undercards anymore, as he wants to be the main event fighter next.
Ennis may face the big names in his division next
Jaron Ennis is looking out to get a main event fight, and for that, the two main opponents for the IBF Interim Champion are either Errol Spence Jr. or Terence Crawford, as these two are the biggest names in the division right now. Currently, the conversation between Crawford and Spence Jr. is going on and there may be a chance that the two negotiate a deal soon and finally make up a fight.
But before that, there are also the talks lingering in the air that Crawford may face Ennis before facing Spence Jr., so we’ll have to see how that goes. After defeating Yordenis Ugas, Spence Jr. was involved in a serious car accident and announced his return by the month of April.
