Last year in November, ahead of the fight against Otto Wallin in Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Anthony Joshua was being trained by Ben Davidson. Since Davidson had prepared Tyson Fury when ‘The Gypsy King’ went against Wallin in 2019, the boxing community believed ‘AJ’ made a smart decision. On the other hand, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn told the media that it was easier to train with Davidson in the UK.
Anyway, after the victory against Wallin, as Joshua continues to train under Ben, The Stomping Ground asked Tyson Fury what he thought about the link-up between his former trainer and ‘AJ’. In his response, ‘The Gypsy King’ lauded the move.

After Anthony Joshua left Derrick James, speaking to Fight Hub TV, promoter Eddie Hearn said it was “very difficult” for ‘AJ’ to travel to Texas and train with James. According to the chairperson of Matchroom, as Joshua had only six weeks to prepare for Wallin, it was ideal that he trained with Ben Davidson in his country. “It’s more about the location. It’s comfortable to train in the UK for this fight,” said Hearn. Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Tyson Fury was in agreement with Hearn.

“I thought it was a good link-up, you know. I said years ago that he probably should have done that because Ben lives right around the corner from him. And he’s a fun guy to be around, he’s a good trainer,” said Tyson Fury. “So, I don’t see why he needed to travel to America when he could get good training in the UK. So, that’s fantastic for him,” added ‘The Gypsy King’.

Additionally, as far as style was concerned, Tyson felt Joshua vs. Ngannou would make an entertaining fight. “And as for the fight, I think it’s a great fight. When I was fighting Ngannou, it was a mismatch. But it is what it is. Styles make fights. And that’s what it is,” stated Fury. Well, while Fury branded his fight against Ngannou a mismatch, the former UFC fighter fought toe-to-toe against the WBC Heavyweight champion. In addition to dropping Fury on the canvas, Francis cut the British boxer too. Anyway, do you think Anthony Joshua vs. Ngannou is more even? What do you feel about Ben Davidson training ‘AJ’ now?
