With the advent of the new year, the landscape of boxing has witnessed a significant shift. The WBA ‘Super’ lightweight champion title, once held by Devin Haney, has been officially relinquished. In the latest ratings update by the sanctioning body, published on Tuesday, Haney’s name was notably absent from the list of ‘Super’ champions in the lightweight division.
This alteration establishes Gervonta Davis as the sole and recognized WBA titleholder in the weight class. Davis, who previously held the WBA ‘Regular’ status, now stands as the undisputed champion in the eyes of the WBA. As this news broke out, one fan took a jab at Davis, which prompted a response that some may deem offensive.
