With less than a day left for the Errol Spence Jr Vs. Terence Crawford showdown, the anticipation has reached a fever pitch. This matchup will definitely be the one for the history books. And even though these two welterweight icons will be stepping foot inside the boxing ring to fight for the undisputed title, it seems like other professional boxers are adding to the hype of the fight in their own way.
While at the press conference for the fight, Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo got into a backstage altercation which resulted in Charlo being on the receiving end of a slap from the former IBF super-middleweight champion. As shocking as the slap was, a world champion was asked a question about the incident.
And, according to the champ, it would’ve been a different story if Charlo retaliated to Plant’s slap.

Nova expounds on the “bullsh*t” slap by Plant
The reigning WBA-NABA super-featherweight world champion Abraham Nova, recently opened up about his thoughts on Plant slapping Charlo during the backstage fiasco.
After his recent KO victory against Jonathan Romero, Nova made an appearance in a quick interview with Elie Sekbach from ESNews. And, he was asked about Plant taking things a bit too far with Charlo when he slapped the WBC middleweight champion.
When asked about the slap, Nova’s immediate response was, “That was bullsh*t.” And he further revealed his thought about Charlo getting back at Plant for that slap. He added, “Charlo couldn’t get him back if Charlo would’ve got him. It would’ve been a different story.” It seems like Nova would’ve been interested in witnessing a comeback from Charlo after he got slapped.
The backstage drama between Charlo and Plant caused a stir in the boxing world. Thankfully the guards intervened and separated the two fighters after Plant slapped Charlo.

It should be noted that the reason behind the altercation is unclear.
The slap has raised many questions among boxing fans. One thing is clear that the two boxers are not on the best terms with each other. And the boxing world wants the animosity to translate into a fight inside the ring.
However, it should be noted that Charlo is not active right now in the boxing scene. He is currently dealing with his mental health issues. And Plant lost his last bout to David Benavidez. So the fans are hopeful and what happens eventually, remains to be seen. And, considering Nova’s remarks about the incident, it seems like he wouldn’t mind watching the fight, either.
