Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have signed contracts to fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship. The fight’s exact date remains unconfirmed, but it may happen on December 23 or in January. Boxing fans feel relieved that the division may finally have a unified champion. However, they also express disappointment over boxing’s continued involvement with Saudi Arabia’s sports washing strategy.

Furthermore, Tyson Fury will also box in Riyadh on October 28 in a non-title match against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who has never boxed before. Although Fury recently showed little interest in fighting Usyk, he would now defend his WBC title against Usyk. The Ukrainian holds the other three heavyweight belts from the IBF, WBA, and WBO. However, recently, veteran Boxing promoter Bob Arum has weighed in on the fight.

In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Bob Arum believes that Tyson Fury could earn close to 200 million dollars soon for his fight with Usyk. The interviewer asked if the fight will definitely be on December 23rd as the date is uncertain due to Tyson Fury’s upcoming fight with Ngannou.

To the question of the interviewer, Bob Arum responded that injuries to Tyson during the Ngannou fight could delay the fight. If Tyson stays healthy, the fight will happen sooner. Moreover, he expresses that he’s not sure about December 23rd as the exact date.

He said, “Ngannou fight is down the line. I said he can look with confidence at making close to 200 million in the relative near term…What happens if Tyson gets cut or hurts his hand? That’s in the hands of God. So, if he gets through the fight with no damage, it’ll happen sooner rather than later. I don’t know if necessarily December 23rd is the date.”

However, recently, Fury’s manager Spencer Brown revealed an unusual conversation between both fighters before signing the fight.

Brown quoted Fury as saying, “Thanks very much, look forward to meeting you in the ring and after, come to Morecambe with your kids for a weekend.” Furthermore, fans lauded both of the fighters for their amicable exchange, calling it a “gentleman thing to do.”

Tyson Fury and Usyk are set for a historic showdown, but first, Tyson Fury must defeat Ngannou. The fight’s date hinges on Fury’s health post-Ngannou match. Fans are eager for a unified champion but question the Saudi venue. Off the ring, both fighters show sportsmanship, setting a positive example. The stakes are high, and the world watches.
