Over the weekend, Oleksandr Usyk fought and successfully defended his heavyweight title against Daniel Dubois. The bout was competitive while it lasted. Dubois had his moments in the fight but the Ukrainian boxer knocked him down in the eighth and secured a finish in the ninth. However, the contest has garnered scrutiny and attention for some other reason. In the fifth round, the British fighter floored the champion. However, the shot was considered, a ‘low blow,’ and was not declared a knockdown. Moreover, many boxing fans and pundits do not consider the shot to be a low blow and feel that Dubois was robbed of a knockdown.

However, after the bout, boxing reporter, Elie Seckbach made a bold assertion. While posting a training clip of Deontay Wilder training, he asserted that the former heavyweight champion is now a mandatory opponent for Usyk. In addition, he called out Dubois for his alleged low-blow shots. Moreover, the fans did not welcome the claims made by him and did not shy away to make it evident. So without further ado, let’s dive in on what he had to say.

Seckbach is not a regular boxing reporter but rather a very famous one. In addition, he does not shy away from making his personal opinion known. However, his opinions usually attract polarizing responses and the present instance is no exception.

On his Instagram account, he stated, “@bronzebomber here with @malikkingscott is the mandatory for @usykaa (congrats on the win so many low blows in a fight. Daniel should’ve been disqualified) also how can you do a broadcast about the heavyweight division and not mention Deontay epic fail by the network l, the hate is real.”

Here are a few intriguing fan reactions:

A fan felt that Seckbach was being a hater and his opinion comes from a place of bias. He stated, “Ellie a biased hater”

While one fan felt that Dubois landed clean shots and that any criticism is unwarranted. He stated, “Most them body shots were clearly clean. Definitely the one he got knocked down by”

One fan specifically opposed his claim and asserted that Dubois should have won the fight in the fifth. He stated, “Shoulda been disqualified?? He should of won in the 5th”

Another fan does not find any sound reason for Wilder to be a mandatory opponent. He stated, “How does a guy who only fights once a year and has won only one fight since 2020 become the mandatory opponent?”

Lastly, one fan gave his prediction regarding Wilder vs. Uysk and favored the former champion. He stated, “Wilder will destroy Usyk inside 4-6 rnds if that”
