As the time of his bout against ‘Big Baby’ Jared Anderson draws near, Charles Martin has entered the conversation but for another reason. Last year in January, he faced Luiz Ortiz at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, and suffered a tragic defeat through a knockdown. The fight ended in the 6th round. However, the referee was highly criticized for letting Charles take the beating when he was in no position of defending himself.

During the fight ‘King Kong’ displayed an incredible level of resilience as he rose from the canvas not once, but twice, to secure a knockout victory at the end. The battle of Southpaws favored Martin who managed to keep the upper hand in the fight. However, Ortiz refused to stay down and inevitably unleashed a powerful overhand left that landed squarely on Martin’s face. ‘Prince Charles’ was left staggering instantly, appearing disoriented and vulnerable.

Ortiz seized the opportunity and delivered a series of follow-up blows, causing Martin to crumple to the canvas. As he fell, Martin’s glove became entangled in the ropes, requiring the referee’s assistance to untangle him. Remarkably, Martin mustered the courage to continue the fight, showing great determination. But Ortiz’s heavy punches proved too much for him. Martin was knocked down for the second time, prompting the referee to stop the bout. Recently, Danny, uploaded the video of the knockdown, writing in the caption- “Who remembers when Charles Martin shut down like a computer for a second?”. Many fans felt that the referee should have intervened the moment, Martin started staggering.
