As Terence Crawford appears smug about his boxing achievements, he isn’t rushing to bag a fight against his top-rated contemporaries. 33-year-old ‘Bud’ has been undefeated so far, with a world championship on his shoulder for over seven years.
Although several potential matchups can still test his skills to the core, Crawford has already teased retirement. The WBO champion sat with Teddy Atlas and shed light on his potential elite opponents- Errol Spence Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

On THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas, Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford said, “I feel like I did everything that I dreamed of you know. My ultimate dream was to become a world champion, and I did that in 2014 against Ricky Burns. So I had put extra dreams on top of dreams on top of dreams. And after conquering my goals, after my goals, after my goals, it feels like I was stagnant and you know shelved from fighting these other top fighters. Because I was such a threat.”
He continued, “So, if I was to retire tomorrow, I will be great and happy with my career.”

The welterweight division is currently filled with several elite challengers. The 42-year-old Manny Pacquiao is looking out for the best competitors and almost bagged a fight against two-belt champion Errol Spence Jr.
However, as Spence Jr. suffered a retinal injury, Yordenis Ugas stepped up to replace ‘The Truth’. So, there’s a scarce chance of Pacquiao facing Spence Jr. in the future. Hence, ‘The Truth’ may have only one option left if he wants an elite opponent.
When can Terence Crawford retire?
Despite his recent statements, Crawford may not retire after facing Shawn Porter. If he beats ‘Showtime’, calls for a unification clash with Errol Spence Jr. will intensify. Assuming that Manny Pacquiao will run for the presidential election in his home country and take another hiatus, Errol Spence Jr. might opt to fight ‘Bud’.

A mega-fight between ‘Bud’ and ‘The Truth’ has allured the boxing fans for years. However, none of the champions have shown any interest in facing each other. While the current situation touts Crawford to face Porter, Spence Jr’s return might settle the unification clash for once and all.
