Perhaps something to amuse the fans. Many are still coming to grips. The much-anticipated Terence CrawfordCanelo Alvarez showdown’s rumored call-off may have dampened their spirits. Following updates on the duo getting close to an agreement for a September face-off, the latest developments suggest the epic duel may not occur. Given their hopes come to naught, some could find relief in Teofimo Lopez‘s antics.

It’s been over six months since the light welterweight champion stepped into the ring. The period witnessed reports of potential face-offs and, of course, online spats. Lopez’s much-anticipated return against Subriel Matias reportedly ran into trouble. However, unperturbed by the challenges, ‘The Takeover’ appears confident, especially regarding the fate that awaits other fighters. One in particular, about whom he sounds quite certain, is Terence Crawford. One needn’t be surprised. It’s been some time since the two have been at loggerheads. So which way his view would tilt is anyone’s guess.

Canelo Alvarez: The winner all the way

It seems Teofimo Lopez was in an altogether different frame of mind. From the most intimate family details, he nevertheless switched over to the more relatable, nitty-gritty of boxing. From a potential face-off against Ryan Garcia to the Subriel Matias fallout and his recent move to Eddy Reynoso‘s stable, Lopez eventually reached the Canelo-Crawford turf.

Lopez had a prediction even for the upcoming clash between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. According to him, the February 22 rematch could witness a similar outcome – Beterbiev would emerge victorious and retain his undisputed title. However, deep in his heart, he was ‘rooting for Bivol,’ it seems.

But only when the fight happens right!

Getting back to reality, Teofimo Lopez’s prophecy might remain wishful thinking. Ring Magazine updated, “The planned Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight is now OFF, The Ring has learned.

Along with the Nebraskan southpaw, he has been at the forefront, claiming a Canelo fight for a long time. It’s difficult to conjecture what might have caused the rumored decision to call off the Canelo-Crawford fight. Given Crawford’s outstanding skills and ring IQ, many felt that he would inflict a third career loss on Canelo Alvarez.

Though much to their chagrin, including Teofimo Lopez and Ryan Garcia, the notion nevertheless remained unfathomable to the Mexican superstar’s fans and associates. They believe the super middleweight king will outbox Crawford. Whether the Canelo-Crawford is over for good, it’s too early to predict. But even the temporary shutdown seems to have disheartened fans whose hopes to watch a historic fight are now dashed.
