It is quite common these days for boxers to get involved in the show business. Recently, Kendrick Lamar released a six-minute-long diss track ‘Euphoria’ on his YouTube channel. This track was a response to weeks of taunting by pop star Drake, who took shots at Lamar on a series of viral diss tracks. The song shared its name with the hit HBO TV Show ‘Euphoria,’ where Drake serves as an executive producer. However, the verse involving Terence Crawford came as a surprise to many when the track started circulating on the web.
Boxing n BBQ quickly picked up the development and shared a portion of the song on social media. The verse in question read, “You thinkin bout pushin me? He’s Terrence Thornton, I’m Terence Crawford, yeah, I’m whoopin feet.” Though Crawford is in no way involved in their beef, Lamar just name-dropped the boxer to emphasize his dominance over Drake. This civil war between the rappers dates back to 2013.

Back then when Lamar was a newcomer to the music industry, he took a dig at Drake whose blend of R&B and rap had changed the way hip-hop was. During a night at the BET Award, Lamar boasted that his skills had “tucked a sensitive rapper (Drake) back in his pyjama clothes.” The feud had died down for a while but was reigned last year when J Cole and Drake described themselves along with Lama as the “Big Three” of the rap industry.
But, this didn’t sit well with Lamar. In a verse of his song ‘Like That’, he revealed that there was “No big three. It’s just big me…” To add fuel to the fire, Drake released two diss tracks ‘Push Ups’ and ‘Taylor Made Freestyle,’ in which he mocked Lamar and taunted him for not responding to the song. However, the latter track was criticized by many for the use of AI-generated voices. In Lamar’s ‘Euphoria’, he responded to Drake with his fiery lyrics. And to showcase himself to be superior, it made sense that the rapper used Crawford’s name, as ‘Bud’ is arguably the pound-for-pound best. The 36-year-old boxer is yet to respond to this track.
On the other hand, the Omaha-Nebraska, native is currently slated to fight Israil Madrimov on August 3 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The twelve-round fight will see the WBA super welterweight and WBO interim super welterweight titles on the line, allowing Crawford to gain a belt in a fourth division. Meanwhile, the entire card for the fight has been revealed on social media.
Crawford vs. Madrimov card: what to expect?
The upcoming fight will be Turki Alalshikh’s debut event in America, featuring some of the biggest names in the industry. Recently, promoter Eddie Hearn shared details about the entire card on X. The event would kick- off with undefeated prospect Andy Cruz facing Antonio Moran in a ten-round bout for the IBF international lightweight title.
