In the wake of Errol Spence Jr.‘s defeat to Terence Crawford, Stephen A. Smith declared on national television that ‘The Truth’ must retire from the sport. Based on the “multitudes of injuries” Spence Jr. suffered outside the ring combined with the punishment he took against Crawford, Smith felt it was high time that the 33-year-old hung his gloves. In addition, he cited Teddy Atlas who felt the crying need for a commission that would at least prevent ‘The Truth’ from fighting for “at least the next year“.

In his recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Terence Crawford announced what Spence Jr. should ideally do next. Although Crawford said he never lost in professional boxing, he well understood how a loss could “affect you mentally“. Likewise, he advised Spence Jr. to “take a little time off to get his mind right“.
