The WBO has now ordered the welterweight champ, Terence Crawford, to face the stout Shawn Porter as his next mandatory contender. Earlier, ‘Bud’ was in contention to battle out his arch-nemesis, Errol Spence Jr. But a fight between these two couldn’t come to life. Later, he also got lined up for a fight against The Filipino boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao. Unfortunately, this fight also failed to reach fruition.
However, after much rigamarole and confusion, Crawford has finally bagged a 12-round fight against a noteworthy contender. Now, more than anyone else, he’s eager to put on a show and is looking forward to this fight.

In an interaction with Mike Coppinger, he said, ”I’ve been begging for a real challenge for years. All the so-called elite welterweights have shown no interest in fighting me. Now one of them is finally being forced to. I’ll show once again why I’m the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Be ready.”

Crawford has been out of action for a substantial while now, having last fought in November 2020 against Kell Brook. The American boxer fared the way everyone expected him to. ‘Bud’ totally demolished Kell Brook with his stupendous power. Moreover, he added on another high-class T/KO win to his name and improved his immaculate track record to 37 wins.

That said, he will definitely bring a certain set of challenges for Crawford in this fight. He will keep the champion on his toes and force him to dig in real deep to end up on the winning vertical.
If ‘Bud’ wins this fight, needless to say, it’ll go down as one of the most decorated fights in his vast boxing run. However, a Porter win will be a monumental upset.
