But Stephen Smith asserted he doesn’t like women punching other women on their faces. This statement gained massive criticism from fight enthusiasts.
On The AK and Barak Show, lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez reacted to the same. He said, “I think women if anything they deserve to get paid more for what they do, you know. It’s all about women’s empowerment. Women are just as equal.”

The ‘Takeover’ took it on a lighter note and gave his own belief on the same. He made a magnificent point for women’s pay in this sport. Women rarely gain as handsome paychecks as men. Many times, female boxing or MMA matches gain more eyeballs than a men’s contest, but it doesn’t contribute much to their pay hike.

Teofimo Lopez details the importance of women
In the aforementioned interview, the unified lightweight king shed light on his wife’s contribution to his life. He said, “I always look at it like this, when I talk to my wife, you could have a house, but a woman makes it a home. There’s so much to it. So these are all facts, man.”
Lopez admitted women need to have higher pay standards in the sport. Not just boxing and MMA, but across the sporting world.
Fighters like Teofimo Lopez keep the sport regulated. And make sure that it does not get lopsided towards men only.
