What’s next for Teofimo Lopez?

There’s a reason to believe that Teofimo Lopez could face Vasyl Lomachenko in a rematch for the unified lightweight gold. According to Top Rank’s Bob Arum, a rematch is a possibility. However, Lopez has also hinted at moving weight and grab the 140-pound gold in his bid to become a multi-division champion.

Meanwhile, he could also look at defending his IBF gold against mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr. who edged past Lee Selby this past weekend. Should Lopez defend his IBF gold, we could see “The Takeover” inside the ring in early 2021. However, there are several other options for Lopez, including Devin Haney for the undisputed status, and a lightweight scrap against Ryan Garcia.

Ryan Garcia is expected to take on Luke Campbell for the WBC interim lightweight title. If he gets a win over the boxing veteran, a potential Teofimo Lopez vs Ryan Garcia could be on the cards. However, Teofimo Lopez has almost confirmed his move to the 140-pound division. Only time will tell what lies ahead of “The Takeover.”
