Proving the entire world wrong is a feeling that very few experience. Lamont Roach did exactly that when he stopped Gervonta Davis winning streak against all odds. Earlier, Davis acknowledged his underperformance in a majority draw between him and Roach, saying, “I could’ve stopped him. It’s me. Definitely my fault. It’s all right. You live and you learn.” So, Roach’s rise from underdog to a legitimate title contender could significantly alter his career path, attracting new sponsorships and opportunities. Ahead of the fight, no one could have predicted The Reaper to pull off what he could. In fact, no one even gave him a chance, except a few.

Among those believers was his brother, Jordan Roach, who predicted it to be a tough fight for Tank. Well, it turns out he was indeed right, and now Gervonta Davis has no choice but a rematch to restore his honor. A match that the younger Roach predicted to be different from the first one, and the Baltimorean needs to be on his toes.

Gervonta Davis’ worst nightmare to come true

A week after his fourth straight pro career victory against Garen Diagan, Joran Roach got in a conversation with Fight Hype. During the conversation, the interviewer reminded the 4-0 fighter of his prediction ahead of the first match. “A potential rematch. What goes differently and what stays the same?” the interviewer followed up.

“I can’t give up too much,” he said, hiding his camp’s strategy and preparation. However, he was confident that his brother would get the job done. “What goes differently, my brother wins,” he stated before sending a chilling warning to the WBA lightweight champion. “What stays the same is my brother put his hands on them,” he declared.

The interviewer then asked whether their camp would like to change the venue from New York, given the controversial knee decision the first time around. However, the 21-year-old revealed that the location doesn’t matter to them. This time, Lamont Roach will finish the job, and there will be no need for a decision. “New York was cool. It don’t matter, we still going to get hands put on them,” he declared.

Keyshawn Davis lays down the ultimatum

In a recent interview with FightHype TV, the WBO champion responded to Roach’s camp, expressing eagerness to face The Reaper if he defeats Gervonta Davis. “If he beat Tank, I would love to fight Lamont next. Like, if he beat Tank, like literally if he beat Tank, it’s only one fight to make in the lightweight division. Me versus Lamont. like it’s like for real. So, like if you beat Tank, bro, let’s fight,” he stated.

However, the Norfolk native emphasized that he meant no disrespect to Gervonta Davis, clarifying that he will only fight the winner of the rematch. It would not only be a good bout, but it would earn him a good payday as well. At the moment, his focus lies on his upcoming fight against Edwin De Los Santos. So, he is open to fighting anyone who can challenge him.
