As per ESPN’s Mark Kriegel, Gervonta Davis is “apparently” in the process of rematching Isaac Cruz next in boxing. The duo first met in 2021 at 135 with the WBA Lightweight title on the line. After a battle of 12 rounds, Davis won the contest via UD. It is because Cruz and Davis are now planning a rematch that the former was unavailable for the vacant WBC Lightweight title fight against Shakur. As a result, the WBC recently ordered Shakur Stevenson to fight Frank Martin.
Following his impressive victory over Ryan Garcia in April, a number of fans expected that Davis would soon face the likes of Stevenson, Vasyl Lomachenko, and Devin Haney. As a result, the news of Davis “going backwards” with a rematch against Cruz has disappointed boxing fans. After talkSPORT correspondent Michael Benson tweeted the news, several people took to X and reacted to it. Here is what these disappointed fans are saying.

According to Mark Kriegel, “Isaac Cruz, he apparently has a date with Tank Davis“. Soon after Kriegel’s declaration, Benson took to X and announced that the Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz rematch was “reportedly being lined up to potentially happen next”. Along these lines, he explained why Stevenson was now ordered to fight Martin.
According to one fan, “Cruz would just get knocked out“.

Meanwhile, a fan expressed that he thought Davis would “gain a confidence boost” after the Garcia victory. “We’re going backwards again? Is he gonna rematch Ryan next? Come on bro. Get the belts,” they added.
