Conor Benn has been in controversy for many months. In October 2022, he tested positive in his VADA drug test. Due to this, his bout against Chris Eubank Jr. fell through. Ever since then, Benn has made it clear that he would not get back in the squared circle before his name is cleared. However, it can be speculated that behind the scenes something is brewing between Benn and Kell Brook.

Brook has competed in the sport since February of last year. He fought and stopped Amir Khan in the sixth round of their anticipated bout. Though he announced his retirement post his victory, Brook’s nutritionist might have indicated talks of a potential bout between Brook and Benn.

Fans share a split reaction to the “Massive news” teased by Kell Brook

Brook’s nutritionist, Greg Marriott took to Instagram to indicate a fight was being considered between Brook and Benn. He featured Brook on his Instagram Story hinting at commencing a training camp. Thereafter, he tagged Benn on a video with features Brook saying “Massive news coming”.

 

Fans at large began to foresee if this fight would take place and how it would play out. One fan named @marcmfc said, Benn wins easy Brookes’s eye sockets are gubbed”

Another fan named @Icon_Irwin does not see this fight taking place. “If Benn can’t fight in the UK where do they put this? I don’t see it selling tickets anywhere other than the UK, and it’s a main event – so it’s not going to be on an undercard?” they commented.

Another user named @StefanBroome shared his reason as to why he is inclined to watch the fight. They said, “Brook v Benn take my money! I like Benn as a fighter, but Brook is one of my all-time.”

On the contrary, a user named @poblomis showcased his disdain for this potential matchup. “I don’t like the direction that Benn’s career has taken even if we don’t consider the failed tests. those are some weird gimmick fights irrelevant to the sport,” they said.

Lastly, on the same lines, @devsahni commented, “If he’s determined on hunting down retired fighters, I much prefer a Benn fight with Brook (36) who last won a fight in 2022 to Pacquiao (44) who last won a fight in 2019.”
