The movie “The Lords of Flatbush” was released in 1974, depicting the lives of rebellious youth residing in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn. The film showcases their signature style, complete with leather jackets and a penchant for getting into trouble.

Directed by Martin Davidson, it was one of several cultural phenomena that rekindled interest in the 1950s aesthetic during the 1970s. Along with the popular musical “Grease,” the television series “Happy Days,” and the band “Sha-Na-Na,” “The Lords of Flatbush” helped to bring the retro style back into the mainstream.
