The clip does not have a lot of context, the caption gives only a little information that the following encounter happened sometime in the mid-80s. And one can just hear the reporter narrating the scene. But it can be deduced that the clip is definitely after Ali’s retirement. He had his Plasma therapy done by that time.
The reporter talked about Ali’s condition, and how he is looking good even after going through severe treatment. Muhammad Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and for its treatment, he had to undergo a blood-cleansing treatment, which is called ‘plasmapheresis’. And the clip is definitely after Ali had successfully undergone the treatment.

Muhammad Ali and Sylvester Stallone were captured sharing some banter with each other at the 1977 Oscars. Sylvester Stallone was supposed to present the award for ‘Best Supporting Actress Award’ when Muhammad Ali surprises him from the back. Then he also claims to be the real ‘Apollo Creed’ and also playfully pretends to fight with Sly Stallone on stage.
This line makes more sense as it was revealed by Sylvester Stallone that he based the character of the ‘Apollo Creed’ on Muhammad Ali. And he also thanked that a character like that existed. Because then he could have never come up with such a character all by himself. And Rocky’s character was an inspiration to a lot of people, but still, some people have their criticism. For instance, Joe Rogan once talked about why ‘Rocky’ is too ‘corny’ to be a real inspiration.
