Will Mike Tyson turn back the clock? Will the fans witness a nostalgic performance from him, who once only knew how to bring carnage and violence into the ring? The American fighter is highly confident of smashing and putting aside Jake Paul ahead of their highly anticipated fight, as he is putting himself in a different league.
Tyson, 58, will fight it out with Paul, 27, this coming Saturday, November 15, at AT&T Stadium. However, there are concerns surrounding his age, health, and ability to withstand the vagaries of a professional fight. Not to mention his opponent’s advantage in age and activity. But the former world champion believed how he turned around his life held the key to success in his coming fight, too.
When Stephen A. Smith asked about how he would triumph over an opponent “half” his age, ‘Iron Mike’ referenced a life-altering incident from 8 years ago. He admitted, “I had [a] psychedelic experience, DMT.”

He explained the after-effects and continued, “I stopped doing dr-gs, I stopped drinking liquor, I stopped just throwing my life away. And I took my life serious. I became, you know, basically a responsible family person, if that makes any sense.”
Following this, when the host quizzed him about his advantage, Tyson, at 50-6, disclosed he was a better fighter than his young opponent. He added, “My advantage is that I’m just a better fighter.” This could be regarding the gulf of skills and experience between the two.
In addition, the same could be argued about the competition that ‘Problem Child’ has faced till today. Paul, at 10-1, has attracted criticism for fighting ex-UFC fighters or boxers on a declining trajectory. So, the two-time world champion has also predicted a grim future for his competitor.

In the same conversation, when enquired by the 57-year-old sports journalist about the possibility of a knockout, Tyson disclosed he was going to hurt Paul. He declared, “I think I’m gonna hurt him, yes… I hope he’s taking this very seriously that his health depends on it.” Following this, Smith curiously wondered what he had seen in the Cleveland native as a fighter that he was confident of taking him out.
But Tyson decided not to share that and announced, “I’ll keep that to myself.” It seems the Brooklyn native has full faith in his ability and his knockout power to secure a win, that too by stoppage. His recent training clips also suggest the same, as he appears in a shredded physique before the fight.
