WBC’s lightweight champion and middleweight champion- Devin Haney and Jermall Charlo recently connected via face time, posing their honest opinion on the ongoing lightweight scenario. While Haney has accused several 135 pounders of ducking him, Charlo passed on the blame to the ‘Dream’, turning the conversation a little heated.
Jermall Charlo pointed out at Haney’s WBC title and enquired why would anyone duck him, especially when he has the belt. But Haney had an appropriate response to it, and he pictured his position amongst the other pugilists at 135 lbs.

Meanwhile, Devin Haney said that none of the lightweights wants to deal with him. He also blamed the franchise belts for running his spot. Although Haney is the sole WBC champion at 135 lbs, Teofimo Lopez has another WBC (franchise) belt. So, it might bring some confusion in determining the WBC lightweight title picture.
However, he still revealed his desirable fights ahead and named Teofimo Lopez or Vasyl Lomachenko to be his likely contenders. Being the WBC champions, it makes sense for Lopez and Haney to clash.
Meanwhile, Lomachenko is also looking for a relevant contender and a fight against Haney would give him the chance of becoming a champion again. That said, Teofimo Lopez has already bagged a fight against George Kambosos. So, it leaves Vasyl Lomachenko as the only relevant contender for Haney.

Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia became the WBC Interim champion after beating Luke Campbell, mandating his spot to challenge for the WBC title. But, he avoided Haney and called out Gervonta Davis. So, it seemed like the 135 lbs division is unhappy with ‘The Dream’.
However, as he is still the unbeaten world champion, we can expect a big comeback from him in the coming days.
