Crawford, a dominant force in the boxing realm, isn’t one to shy away from confrontation. He pointed out his displeasure at Jermall Charlo “Hogging the belt” despite not fighting for the last two years. Charlo is the current WBC middleweight champion.
Reports had surfaced that Jermall Charlo turned down a fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, sighting personal issues. Jermall has been fighting personal issues for the last two years, explaining his noticeable absence from the boxing world. However, this doesn’t mean the boxer hasn’t been in the spotlight at all. Recently, Caleb Plant slapped Jermall Charlo across the face, at the Terance Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. weigh-in on July 28th of this year. Plant revealed that Charlo’s actions left him feeling disrespected and motivated him to act in this manner.

Furthermore, Crawford also compared the world of boxing to the UFC, highlighting that in the UFC, fighters frequently face top contenders with limited room for negotiation. He expressed his desire for a similar structure in boxing, stating “I think there needs to be more structure with these sanction bodies to where other people can get opportunities to fight for these titles.”
In addition to his critique of Charlo, Crawford didn’t spare Canelo Alvarez either. While recognizing Canelo’s incredible talent and achievements, he feels like it is unfair Canelo keeps going up and down in weight.

Terence Crawford doesn’t hold back when expressing his opinions about Jermall Charlo’s prolonged tenure as the WBC middleweight champion. He firmly advocates for the implementation of a sanction that would introduce a single belt per weight class, deeming the creation of separate titles unnecessary.
According to Crawford, the adoption of such sanctions would eliminate situations where fighters are kept waiting, and it would require champions to actively defend their belts instead of merely holding onto them without facing challengers.
