Ryan Garcia on the court—should boxers stick to boxing or explore other sports?

Ryan Garcia has taken up basketball and even called out NBA god LeBron James for a match. The Victorville native is currently serving his year-long ban from the sport of boxing following his positive doping tests in the fight against Devin Haney last April. But he hasn’t been calm during this time!

The 25-year-old puncher made national headlines because of his comments on Black people and the Muslim community. He had since promised to admit himself in a rehab to work on improving himself and become a better influence on people. However, in his latest social media post, the boxer is seen shooting hoops, which seems to have attracted some negative comments from the fans.

At this point, ‘The Flash’ Garcia is known more for his social media posts than his skills in the ring. But this one seemed relatively tame, as the 25-year-old ran around a court shooting some hoops in the clip he shared on Instagram earlier today. He captioned the post, “Let’s go @kingjames I’m ready”.

LeBron James is currently preparing for his role in team USA ahead of the Paris Olympics, having defeated Germany in the final exhibition match off late, where the Los Angeles Lakers star literally bailed out his team with a 92-88 victory. Regardless, Garcia’s post amid all this didn’t sit well with masses as they showed him the reality of his situation.

Garcia’s rehab promise brought to question

Have an interesting take?

Since Garcia’s promise to visit rehab, many have raised questions whether there was any validity to his statement. Like this user, who mocked the clip, sarcastically commenting, “Wow, rehab looks like a basketball court. That’s weird”. While it’s unlikely Garcia is in rehab, it’s not like a rehabilitation center can’t have a basketball court.

Seeing Garcia’s skills on the court, another user advised the Victorville native to stick to his own sport. “Just stick to boxing bro”, wrote the user. But Garcia doesn’t seem to be trying to play professionally, so no harm done.

The next user came as an agent of chaos, who hoped Garcia never goes to rehab because he has become a source of entertainment. The user wrote, “Unlike most ppl, im hoping you don’t go to rehab. These posts are pure entertainment! Lol”. Garcia has been struggling with mental health issues for a while now, so it would be wise to seek help.

Someone else speculated what Ryan Garcia would say about his bad basketball skills. “Ryan would say some ish like ‘The Matrix is out here blocking my shots. God got me’”, the user commented. Actually, Ryan Garcia has said worse things—from UFOs to conspiracy theories, he has left no avenue untouched.

Another user implied Garcia would do anything for some attention. The user remarked, “Bro made one shot & decided to post it”. Well, Ryan Garcia is the most popular social media boxer for a reason.

With that said, one thing is clear: At least, fans didn’t like Garcia’s moves on the court. But will LeBron James take up Ryan Garcia on his challenge? Who do you think will win?
