Since 2022, WBC featherweight champion Stephen Fulton had grown accustomed to fighting just once a year. He successfully defended his WBC and WBO super bantamweight belts against Daniel Roman in June 2022. However, the following year brought a harsh reality for the 30-year-old. ‘Cool Boy Steph’ found himself facing the toughest opponent of his career in the most significant fight of his life.

Going toe-to-toe with the now two-weight undisputed champion Naoya Inoue, Fulton found himself completely outmatched. Inoue sailed past the American with an eighth-round knockout victory. Still determined to make a comeback, the Philadelphia native returned the next year in 2024 against Carlos Castro, winning the fight via a narrow split decision.

It wasn’t enough to convince anyone about whether he can still dominate. But Fulton is not one to give up, as he fought old rival Brandon Figueroa earlier this year. Their previous fight saw Fulton win via majority decision, leaving some doubt that Figueroa could potentially get the upper hand in a rematch. However, when they met again in February, Fulton didn’t want to leave people with doubts.

Fulton defeated his Texas-based opponent via unanimous decision, winning back some of the credibility he once had and the WBC featherweight title. Now, it appears that ‘Cool Boy Steph’ wants to continue his comeback era with a second fight in 2025 on the undercard of the potential Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. rematch. And guess who he’s fighting?

According to a post from Brunch Boxing, “One of the bouts being discussed for the undercard of a potential rematch between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach is a WBC Super Featherweight bout between Stephen Fulton and O’Shaquie Foster.” Previous reports had indicated that Davis and Roach Jr. could fight in June.

However, there hasn’t been any concrete evidence regarding this, as fans await an official announcement from PBC. In the meantime, Foster isn’t alone in wanting a fight against Fulton.

Bruce Carrington eyes Nick Ball and Stephen Fulton next

Bruce ‘Shu Shu’ Carrington made a statement at BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas, stopping Jose Enrique Vivas in the third round to secure his place as the WBC and WBO No. 1 featherweight contender. After an early onslaught from Vivas, Carrington turned the tide in the second round with a sharp three-punch combination that sent his opponent to the canvas.

Sensing the finish, he pressed forward in the third until the referee halted the bout at 53 seconds. Now, Carrington is targeting the division’s top names. “Nick Ball? Yeah, I want that. Stephen Fulton? Yeah, I want that. Let’s get this work in. I want all of ya’ll,” he declared. Reflecting on his dominant performance, he added, “I wanted him to feel comfortable and open up. And then I was just going to get my shots on the inside and get him out of there.”
