Floyd Mayweather is set to face off Mikuru Asakura in his next exhibition bout on September 24th. ‘Money’ will make his return to Japan after his victory over the Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa back in 2018. Mayweather retired from professional boxing back in 2017 but has continued to compete in a host of exhibition bouts.

The former 4 division champion is currently 45 years old and way past the prime of his career. However, it seems that he might have rekindled a fire in him ahead of his next bout. Mayweather recently posted a video of his training session. In the video he can be seen working the pads with his trainer as he dodges and counterpunches his trainer’s shots.

Moreover, the punches in the video land perfectly on the pads, which made them sound very similar to gunshots. This was not all, as celebrities and athletes were quick to react to the video.
Stars react to Floyd Mayweather in a training session
Hip-Hop producer and rapper Lil Jamez cited Mayweather as the best to ever do it, posting his nickname along with a goat emoji. “TBE,” he wrote. Comedian Na’im Lynn wished ‘Money’ the best of luck in his next match,” Let’s go Champ,” he wrote. Moreover, professional boxer Denis Douglin was astounded by how Mayweather still managed to be in fighting shape at 45 years old.” I still don’t understand how...” he wrote.

Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney also touted Mayweather as the greatest of all time. “ Still the goat,” he wrote. Motivational speaker Nino Brown stated that there will never be another talent like ‘Money’ in boxing. “There will never be another,” he wrote. Lastly, UFC bantamweight contender Trevin Jones made an interesting comment about Mayweather’s style. He stated that anyone trying to touch his right glove was sure to get a counter-punch. “If you touch that right glove you’re getting counter for sure clean.” he wrote

It looks like Mayweather has shown no sign of deteriorating even after all these years in the ring. He will now have to prove that father-time hasn’t caught up to him against Asakura. Moreover, this might not even be his last exhibition bout as it was recently revealed that talks for a potential rematch between him and Conor McGregor are ongoing.
