He makes sh-t look good. He makes shit look better than what it is What kind of resume he got? He don’t f–king have a resume, man.”,” said Keyshawn Davis in a callout to Gervonta Davis last year. The comment followed Davis securing his 12th straight win and 8th knockout victory over Gustavo Daniel Lemos in November 2024. That win served as a title eliminator, putting Davis on a path to face WBO champion Denys Berinchyk next.

However, despite the imminent title fight with Berinchyk, the 25-year-old Olympic Silver Medalist remains primarily focused on targeting WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, aiming to hold both the WBA and WBO titles as soon as possible. While Keyshawn Davis called out Tank, his challenge went unanswered, with the WBA lightweight champion now set to face the WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. in March. Meanwhile, Keyshawn Davis is scheduled to face Denys Berinchyk on February 14, with his sights set on capturing the WBO lightweight title.

Regardless, Keyshawn Davis remains intent on facing Gervonta Davis and once again issued a bold statement. The host of All the Smoke Fight recently asked the Businessman, “In your fight you call out Tank, you call out Tank. What makes you so confident that you can solve that puzzle?” The Virginia native had an answer loaded. “I’ve been in the ring with Tank twice already, sparring him… Since he’s the top dog, I’m calling him out because I know I can whoop his a-s,” declared Keyshawn Davis. This leaves Gervonta Davis at a crossroads where the WBA champion will now have to respond, either directly or indirectly.

Although the 25-year-old has showcased exceptional skill throughout his four-year career, he has yet to face a truly elite opponent. However, his recent dominant victory over Gustavo Lemos is considered a defining moment, solidifying his reputation as a rising star. ‘The Businessman’s’ next challenge comes on February 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York, where he will face WBO champion Denys Berinchyk. A win in this high-stakes matchup could pave the way for the long-anticipated showdown with Gervonta Davis.

Throwback to when Gervonta Davis trashed Keyshawn Davis

In late 2024, Gervonta Davis revealed his plans for 2025, which he announced would be his final year in boxing before retiring. Davis has yet to outline the fighters he would like to fight this year. However, there is a very good chance Keyshawn Davis is not on that list since he has less than half the number of fights as Gervonta Davis. And having no titles at 135 lbs only adds to his dilemma.

Addressing the rumors during a media interaction last month, Gervonta Davis dismissed the idea of facing either Keyshawn Davis or Shakur Stevenson, questioning their accomplishments in the sport. He stated: “After this year, I’m gone. What has Shakur done in the sport? He has done nothing. The young ones are looking better than him—Keyshawn, he’s looking way better than him. I keep screaming his name. He [Shakur] hasn’t done nothing. Keyshawn hasn’t even done nothing. Why do y’all keep saying his name?”
