While YouTube boxing sensation Jake Paul continues to beg for a fight with Canelo Alvarez, the matchup fans are truly craving is between Alvarez and Terence Crawford. Talks of a potential clash between the two have surfaced repeatedly, only to fizzle out before gaining traction. Nevertheless, the Nebraska native remains hopeful for a lucrative showdown with the Mexican superstar.
Amid this never-ending cycle, professional boxer, Alexis Rocha, who had sparred with both men has shared his prediction for a fight between the legendary duo. It’s worth noting that Crawford is currently moving across several weight divisions to compete with Canelo Alvarez, while ‘Cinnamon’ has been taking what most people are calling easy fights.
While appearing in an interview with Elie Seckbach on ES News recently, the 27-year-old sparring partner to both, Canelo and Crawford, shared his interesting take on how a fight may unfold between the two. Revealing he sparred with Canelo when he was in high school, the Irvine, California resident said, “Canelo took it easy on me because I was 17.”

“There were times when he went very hard, I felt those shots and he wasn’t even trying… I helped him a little bit for the James Kirkland fight. But I wanna say, me and Canelo went toe-to-toe,” Rocha said. Coming to Terence Crawford, Rocha acknowledged there are weight classes for a reason and Canelo Alvarez is much bigger than ‘Bud,’ but he wasn’t counting Crawford out.
“He also has a good size to him where… he has that reach, he has that boxing IQ—that’s the most important thing when it comes to the boxing game,” Alexis Rocha told ES News. “I think Crawford will hold his own very well in that fight.” Despite that, the 27-year-old explained he is still leaning more towards Canelo to win the fight because he has more experience fighting even bigger guys.
Meanwhile, a pound-for-pound champion of the past has also shared his prediction for the fight.

Regardless, Ward seems to be confident in his prediction, where he sees Crawford emerge victorious.
“I’m going with Terence Crawford. Big weight jump, dangerous fight, but somebody’s got to prove to me that they can break Terence Crawford’s will and that he can’t figure it out against you,” Ward told Boxing News. “It ain’t no disrespect to Canelo, but I’ve said this the last couple times, I’m not betting against Terence Crawford against nobody right now. You got to show me that you can beat him.”
