Combat sports demand extreme strength, the capacity to endure throughout a fight, and the ability to stop at nothing to gain the upper hand over their opponents. Athletes occasionally use illegal performance-enhancing drugs. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) has voiced concerns in light of Gervonta Davis’ allegations that Ryan Garcia used such drugs and Conor Benn’s positive drug test.

VADA is responsible for conducting and promoting effective anti-doping practices in boxing and MMA.

Owing to the recent events, VADA shared on Twitter, “How many #boxing #mma bouts take place weekly with absolutely NO out-of-comp #PED testing. Many complain about unfair officiating, but if fighters & fans want FAIR bouts, then #cleanfights are needed.”

The use of steroids by fighters has recently been a heated topic among fans. This raises concerns about the legitimacy of the sport and has the potential to injure fighters.

Gervonta Davis accuses Ryan Garcia of using PEDs

Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia are looking forward to squaring off against each other in 2023. This super-fight is highly anticipated by fans. The rivals often mocked each other online ahead of their 2023 bout. However, recently Davis took to Twitter and accused Garcia of using banned substances to look bigger in size. 

Even Garcia was blunt in his criticism of Davis and said that he was willing to submit to any test to establish his reliability. Davis posted a string of insulting Tweets about Garcia before deleting them. But nothing as such about Garcia has been proven yet.

Conor Benn tested positive for a fertility drug

Conor Benn, a welterweight boxer, has been strutting his way up the boxing ladder. On October 8, nevertheless, he was scheduled to face Chris Eubank Jr. and he tested positive for the fertility medication clomifene, and therefore the bout was called off. The news quickly became the talk of the town.

Since then, Benn has been the target of harsh criticism. Given the positive drug test, the BBBofC reportedly also revoked Benn’s boxing license. The boxer, however, has refuted these claims and stated that he believed the test might have been flawed. He is still making an effort to convince people of his innocence.
