This year has been filled with ups and downs for Devin Haney. Ever since he achieved a sound victory against George Kambosos Jr. twice last year, his position as the undisputed Lightweight champion has been solidified. This was until his fight against Vasyl Lomachenko, which raised a lot of doubts about his capabilities. However, even after the win being rather controversial and the whole boxing world, including Loma, Haney didn’t agree to a rematch.

After failing to negotiate a purse with Shakur Stevenson, he is now looking for a fight against Regis Prograis instead. However, even after moving up in the weight division, the champion is not free from all the constant questions regarding his capability. In the midst of a heated debate about which boxer was the one truly ‘ducking’, Haney made a rather surprising revelation about his bout against Kambosos Jr.

Recently Shakur Stevenson found himself targeted when, in a deleted tweet, he revealed that Frank Martin was asking half-split for the fight. He also deleted a tweet claiming that Martin would’ve been making a “quadruple” amount of his biggest payday. This caused someone else to point out that the boxer didn’t fight Haney for the same reason. He called out Stevenson and claimed that he “ducked” Haney. He blamed Stevenson for outpricing himself against Warren and then spinning it as him “ducking” the bout.

To this, one fan also took to X to state that Haney had taken 30% for his first fight against Kambosos Jr. He stated that the percentages differ from what people claim it to be at 22%. Additionally, he claimed that this proves that “Haneys 25% offer was actually a lowball” calling his supporters “Delusional on purpose.”

This prompted ‘The Dream’ to himself address the tweet. In response, Haney ended up making a rather surprising revelation. Haney retweeted the post and wrote, “I ain’t even know this fight was on PPV.. somebody owe me some money.” It appears that the champion didn’t have any idea of the fight being a Pay-per-view event. Moreover, it also seems like the $7 million boxer will not let his cash go. As the situation develops further, certainly more updates will come about the missing revenue.

Prograis shares his frustration about the potential Haney bout

Recently in an interview with FightHype, Regis Prograis discussed his potential bout against ‘The Dream’. According to Prograis, he has signed the contract for the match-up and the ball is now in Haney’s court. Thus Prograis stated that there is nothing he can do to push the fight anymore. He stated that he had already done his part and that he wanted the fight. Furthermore, he added “I did my part, there’s nothing else I can do. It’s literally nothing else I can do to get this fight made.”

He also revealed that prior to his signing, he was told that everything needed for the fight was in the contract. However, after he did so, he found out that Haney had yet to sign on it. Prograis added that their fight is inevitable, if not now, they will end up fighting later on. He stated, “With Devin, right now, he’s trying to figure things out.” He also addressed Haney’s desire to keep the belts at 135 even after claiming to not be able to make the weight anymore. Prograis predicts that in case Haney loses his fight against him, he will say, “‘I’m going back, I’m still undisputed at 135.’”
