Australian Fighter, Skye Nicolson is all set to enter the ring against Sabrina Maribel Perez on the 15th of September. The DAZN  fight is set to take place in the lands of Mexico. Nicolson will challenge interim WBC featherweight titleholder Perez for ten rounds. The match-up will take place on the card with Angel Fierro-Brayan Zamarripa’s lightweight main event.

Nicolson has undertaken three fights each in the UK and the US, and one in her home country. The overwhelming number of clashes she’s fought is impressive given it’s just been over a year since the fighter ventured into the realm of professional boxing. However, the Tijuana-based fight will be a stepping stone in her boxing career. And she seems all ready for it.

Ahead of her big clash against Perez, a video has made rounds on the internet that shows a side of the boxer that one should steer clear of. She cleared the perception of many who would assume that she’s yet another counter-boxer. The fighter further sent a spine-chilling warning to her opponent that this fight would not be an easy one for her.

She said, “I’m not just a counter-boxer, I’m not just a fighter on the back foot. But I can be very aggressive and spiteful as well. And that’s something we’re looking to show in this fight.”

However, Nicolson also addressed the ranging discourse around how most fighters today undertake matchups to rather survive and make wins than actually take chances to score massively. There was an era in which fighters took the most lethal matchups. Invoking such a culture again, she said, “Having someone that’s coming in there to fight and coming in there to win, we’re going to see a better performance from me as well. Most of my opponents as a professional have almost been like they’re in there to survive, rather than to actually fight and come to win.”

An impressive 4 fights in 100 days

2022 will go down as the year Skye Nicholson exploded into the pro-boxing realm as a global superpower. The fighter in the toddler stages of her career undertook an impressive number of four  fights in a mere 100 days. Initially, she planned to take up three fights before she took off to her home country, but then the raging opportunity of fighting Gabriela Bouvier knocked on her door.
