The fight which happened at the junior Welterweight limit of 154lbs was the MMA fighter’s first time stepping into a professional boxing ring. Though he came in strong in the first 5 rounds, Mayweather easily took over in the next few and by the 10th round, the fight was over after the referee stepped in and the boxer won by a TKO. Years later, in Cardone’s podcast, ‘Money’ gives his remarks on how it was fighting the MMA star.

Mayweather and Cardone touched upon multiple topics like college, finance, watches, and the boxer’s childhood. The business icon made sure to include Mayweather’s famous fight with McGregor, “How much work did you do for the Conor fight? I heard you didn’t really work.” curious about whether it was true that Mayweather did not need much preparation for the fight.

Mayweather answers with just one word “Easy. Easy.” gesturing with his hand that there was not much to say other than that. The conversation about the fight ended there. Seems like the boxing champion did not have to break a sweat against one of the biggest MMA fighters.

The ‘Money Fight’

After McGregor signaled that he was willing to step into a boxing ring instead of the octagon if provided a chance with Mayweather, the world champion came out of retirement to have one last fight with the UFC star. Mayweather let the 29-year-old Irish fighter land some punches in the first few rounds.

After he saw McGregor tiring himself, he started targeting his body and landing right hands. He landed 53% of his punches in comparison to McGregor’s 26% and ended the fight in the 10th round with a TKO.
