Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. might be ready for his next job as a trainer. As such, he will train none other than former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua following his devastating loss to Oleksandr Usyk a few months back. Despite that, ‘AJ’ looks to come back stronger than ever and has turned to the legend for some advice.

Jones has had a successful career as a coach following his retirement from the sport. He has notably trained Chris Eubank Jr. who was on the other end of a failed fight following his opponent Conor Benn’s failed VADA tests. Joshua, on the other hand, split from long-time trainer Rob McCracken after his first defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. He then worked with Robert Garcia for the Usyk rematch but revealed that he intends to change his trainer following the second loss.

Talksport Journalist Michael Benson revealed that Jones might now be interested in training ‘AJ’. In a tweet, he stated that Jones had spoken to him about training Joshua, who was looking for multiple trainers for his 2023 comeback.

Told by Roy Jones Jr today that he’s spoken to Anthony Joshua and will trial training him in the near future. AJ has said he intends to be a ‘free spirit’ and not tie himself down to one single coach as he prepares for his 2023 comeback.” He wrote. This was not all, as the fans were also quick to react to this shocking revelation.

Fans react to Roy Jones Jr, claiming to be the next coach for Anthony Joshua

One fan stated that Joshua should have picked up on Tyson Fury’s offer to train him for the Usyk rematch. He added that Joshua would learn more from Fury in one hour than he would in 8 weeks with any other trainer.

Another fan claimed that he didn’t like this move as Jones hadn’t done anything for Eubank Jr.

One fan wanted Joshua to move out of his comfort zone and go to train where his coaches are rather than bringing them over.
