Undefeated Katie Taylor will defend her world titles against the veteran Delfine Persoon on August 22, in one of the biggest rematches in women’s boxing.
Taylor is looking to contest distinctively in the grandest fight of her career that night. However, the Irish sensation has seemingly aimed at something bigger after the boxing contest.
As per Eddie Hearn, Taylor wants to fight Cris Cyborg in a massive cross-promotion event, before she hangs her gloves up for good. Cyborg already holds a world title at Bellator following her exit from the UFC and is yet to react to the statement.

However, the crossover will be a historic blockbuster for women in combat sports, if it materializes.
Katie Taylor wants to fight Cris Cyborg, claims Eddie Hearn
As per the reports of the Sun, Eddie Hearn recently opened up about Taylor’s future and went on to tease a possible matchup with MMA star, Cris Cyborg.
While Taylor has potentially aimed at a bunch of her boxing contemporaries too, Cyborg is in her scope as well.
“She wants Persoon, she wants [Amanda] Serrano, she wants [Cecilia] Braekhus, she wants [Cris] Cyborg. I’m not saying she’s done after that, but that’s what motivates her,” claimed Hearn.
Now, we have already witnessed the intensity of cross-promotion bouts with the legendary scrap between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather in 2017. That said, women are yet to taste the same glory in combat sports.
While Cyborg has expressed her interest in a re-match against Amanda Nunes several times in the past, a cross-promotion bout with Taylor might interest her.
However, Hearn’s statement needs to have an official base before Taylor and Cyborg meet each other on the canvas.
Taylor vs Peerson 2 Preview
When Whyte and Povetkin will battle each other for the WBC Interim belt, Persoon is set to make a pass at Taylor’s WBC, WBA, IBO, and IBF world titles on the same card as Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin.

Persoon (44-2) had an unsuccessful attempt against Taylor in 2019 and lost the fight via decision. However, she bounced back to win against Helen Joseph five months later, to earn the rematch against Taylor.
While the rematch is assumed to be an intense face-off, Persoon stands a very real chance of handing Taylor her first defeat in her professional career.
If not, Taylor would extend her undefeated record to 16-0, to face other legitimate contenders on the roster. Not to mention the planned scrap against Cris Cyborg.
