Floyd Mayweather is arguably one of the best boxers to grace the square ring with his boxing prowess. Since his retirement, the boxing world has been waiting for someone like him to enter the ring. Curmel Moton is supposed to be that guy! Mayweather himself has claimed Moton reminds him of himself. However, a recent statement from Moton, hours before his pro debut on Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo undercard, has the fans ganging up against him.

Naoya Inoue is a Japanese professional boxer who has captivated the entire world with his punching power, speed, and timing. While Moton hasn’t even made his pro debut, the ‘Monster’ Inoue is undefeated with twenty-five fights under his belt. In the recent X (former Twitter) clip, Moton recollects the time he went toe to toe with Inoue’s sparring partner. Moton claimed Inoue was helping his sparring partner during his session with Moton, and Moton was giving the sparring partner a hard time. The statement from Moton rubbed the wrong way with the Twitterverse, as they put Moton in his place.

As people came across the tweet, they quickly took to the comment section describing their disapproval of Moton’s statement. Just a week ago, anticipation for the young boxer’s debut was through the roof. However, the clip has seemingly left a rather bad aftertaste.

One user described his disapproval by claiming Inoue would absolutely “victimize” Moton. It’s worth mentioning that while Moton has an impressive amateur record, Inoue has won twenty-two of his twenty-five fights via knockout.

Another user harshly expressed his opinion on Curmel’s comments. According to this user, Curmel won’t have a career like Canelo, referring to their short height. The user also commented about Curmel’s current weight and claimed he won’t be able to move up weight divisions.

The next user claimed Curmel was using Inoue’s name to bring attention to himself. It’s worth mentioning that Curmel was getting media attention beforehand because of his debut fight and connection to Mayweather.

One user pointed out that Curmel has been discussing his sparring sessions a lot lately. Moton has sparred with the likes of Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis. That’s the closest Moton has come to sparring with pro fighters, so it makes sense for him to talk about those experiences to a certain extent.

Another user seemed confused about why Moton was gloating about sparring Inoue’s sparring partner. While sparring with Inoue’s sparring partner is not an achievement, it can help a fighter gauge the caliber of fighters Inoue spars with.
