Former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has cemented his position as the king of exhibition bouts. This time, he is all set to face Mikuru Asakura for an exciting showdown. However, MMA analyst and former fighter Chael Sonnen has reasons to believe that the fight may be fixed.
Sonnen was talking on his YouTube channel. In conversation, he mentioned that Mayweather first fought at a weight class that a lot of people did not care about, which he turned around. Moreover, he went on to accuse Mayweather of using gimmicks and embellishments to retain his iconic status.

This was when Sonnen took into context Mayweather’s upcoming fight with Asakura. He said, “Just one example. Floyd is claiming he’s going to get 20 million for this, I call it wrestling coz they’re not actually. But, whatever they’re getting ready to do in Japan. Whatever that is that’s going to look like boxing, he’s getting $8 million.”
Sonnen mentioned that Mayweather is getting paid to not actually compete, especially with an opponent who he can ‘destroy in 30 seconds’.
He also stated, “He doesn’t have to work very hard, he doesn’t have to train at all because the script is on his side and they’ve already told him who’s going down and when.”
Additionally, Sonnen also alleged that he might have done the same for his other fights as well.
