Mike Tyson and his former promoter Don King had a seemingly unbreakable bond that fueled Tyson’s rise to fame and success. From the early days of his career, King played a pivotal role in guiding Tyson to become the youngest Heavyweight champion in history. However, as time passed, fissures began to appear in their relationship. The main point of contention was financial management. The former champion grew increasingly concerned about his earnings. He felt that King was not transparent about the business side of things.
Ultimately their relationship deteriorated and Tyson decided to part ways with the promoter. Moreover, he even ended up suing King for a huge amount of $100 million. He claimed that the promoter had stolen a huge amount from him while promoting him. He even recalled the event recently, though he changed some details during his recollection.
Recently, an iconic picture of Tyson along with King after his controversial knockout victory against Carl Williams resurfaced. The fight was over in just 93 seconds as Williams appeared a bit groggy after getting knocked down by Tyson in the first round. The referee declared the fight over and Williams appeared unwilling to accept defeat in such a manner. This raised some eyebrows as people wondered if the stoppage was too premature.
