For some, Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson is the biggest fight in the boxing world to make. At least Stevenson claims so. It might be a typical skill vs. power showdown, pitting two undefeated against each other. However, ‘Tank’ has times and again downplayed his fellow compatriot’s boxing prowess and sees him as an easy fight. But Stevenson has issued a warning to him.
Davis, 29, mocked Stevenson’s defense and questioned his power when he sat down with Naji at Cigar Talks. When asked whether Stevenson, 26, would be his hardest fight, he straightaway denied it. He said, “Hell, no. Show me something he did outrageous. Show me. His power not outrageous. His, what defense? He just jump.”
“You never see him slip, no punch. Never. Go, look at. He back up from a lot of people. Back up, move around. Move around. You got no technique and his offense is the same thing, if you go look at his fights,” the Baltimore native continued.

These comments didn’t sit well with Stevenson. The 21-0 record holder then turned to his X handle and suggested Davis was in for a rude awakening if the two met in the squared circle. He wrote, “Ni**a overlooking me he gone be in for a rude awakening come fight night.”

Todd duBoef was quizzed by BoxingScene about whether Tank and Stevenson were on a collision course. He said, “I hope so. I think it makes sense.” Moreover, Bob Arum believes Stevenson has what it takes to beat Davis. So, what is the holdup? It’s Davis, who will call the shots.
Stevenson disclosed on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast that Davis was the PPV star, and as such he couldn’t throw any offers to him. He said, “Who am I to throw an offer to the biggest star in boxing? What am I going to offer him? It don’t make sense. That would have to be on their part, on their team to want to do that.”

Notably, Stevenson will mark his return to the boxing ring on July 6 after a snoozefest against Edwin De Los Santos crowned him the WBC champion. Meanwhile, Davis will fight it out against Frank Martin on June 15. It remains to be seen whether both will fight anytime soon. But Stevenson has already made his intentions clear.
