When Eddie Hearn signed Shakur Stevenson for Matchroom Boxing last year, he laid down a three-fight plan against Joe Cordia, William Zepeda, and Gervonta Davis immediately. However, as 2024 rolled down, ‘Sugar’ only competed in one bout that too against Artem Harutyunyan.
As we roll into 2025, Hearn once again is hopeful for a packed year for his fighter and is still targeting a similar lineup of fights. As the British promoter sat down with boxing journalist Sean Zittel, he laid down an ambitious lineup for his fighter with the ultimate finale against Tank. However, unlike last time, it looks like even Stevenson also has the same plan.

Shakur Stevenson and his three-fight gauntlet
Shakur Stevenson is all set to defend his WBC lightweight title Floyd Schofield on ‘The Last Crescendo’ card on February 22 in Riyadh. While talking to Zittel, the Matchroom head honcho claimed that he had already planned Sugar’s next two fights in 2025 following Kid Austin. The surprising thing is that the lineup is an exact copy of the plans Hearn had when he signed the Newark native.
“The plan for Shakur Stevenson is (Floyd) Schofield, (Williams) Zepeda, Gervonta (Davis). That’s 2025,” declared Hearn. He especially has big hopes for the Gervonta Davis fight as “that fight is going to be one of the biggest fights in the world.”
Hearn is even open to placing the fight on Amazon Prime and it won’t matter if it is not on DAZN as he wants the fight where “the best opportunity for the fight lies. That’s how it should work.” However, it is too soon to talk about streaming rights as there is a high possibility that Tank doesn’t even want the fight.
The Baltimore native has made claims to retire from boxing after 2025 and might only chase a huge payout. A decision that Shakur Stevenson has criticized firmly. According to Hearn, Gervonta Davis might even demand $100 million to fight Shakur Stevenson. That is an absurd amount, but we can put nothing past the 30-0 at the moment.
While we have no idea what Tank thinks about the clash, Stevenson definitely wants the fight. In a conversation with Fight Hype, ‘Sugar’ showed positivity about the fight, but there is something the duo has to do before that.

Will we finally witness Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson?
During the interview, Stevenson agreed with the lineup laid down by Eddie Hearn. Talking about the Tank’s fight, he had high hopes and claimed, “Oh yeah you could definitely see that fight.” However, as the duo has fights upcoming in the first half of 2025, they need to focus on that before. While Shakur Stevenson will face Schofield, Tank is supposed to defend his title against Lamont Roach on March 1.
“Though I got kid Austin I got to focus on. He got Lamont roach he got to focus on. So we can’t look past our opponents,” declared Stevenson. Because if “one of us take a L to one of them guys,” their potential clash will lose the charm, and “it won’t be no big fight.”

Hence, the 22-0 thinks that it is best to focus on the task at hand. A loss here would not only lose them the title but would also affect their rankings in a stacked lightweight division. Something which none of them wants.
