Shakur Stevenson will face Armenian-German Olympic bronze medalist Artem Harutyunyan tomorrow at the Prudential Center in his hometown of Newark. It will be his first title defense. Stevenson became the WBC lightweight champion on November 26 with a unanimous decision win over Dominican fighter Edwin De Los Santos.
Shakur Stevenson, a bantamweight silver medalist at the Rio Olympics, briefly shocked fans by announcing an early retirement from boxing. However, he soon hinted at a tentative return. It’s not clear what the Newark-born Southpaw wishes to do after tomorrow’s fight. He remains a -3500 favorite to win the bout. Currently, few details are available regarding his and Harutyunyan’s earnings for the match.

Reports suggest Shakur Stevenson’s purse for tomorrow’s fight stands in the neighborhood of $1.5 million. Likewise, Artem Harutyunyan will receive about $400,000. It’s worth noting that these are rough estimates of the actual payout. So it does not include the split in the earnings made through the PPV buyouts.
Yes, it’s true. Unlike other big names, past and present, in the division, like Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney, or, for that matter, Vasyl Lomachenko or Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson has yet to participate in a big payday. It is also true that, given his demonstrative skills and the following reputation, he is sure to enter that league in a few months, if not years.
Let’s check out a few details regarding Shakur Stevenson’s overall net worth and how much he made from some of the fights he fought over the last few years.
Shakur Stevenson’s career earnings, fight purse history, and net worth
There’s no unanimous view on how much Stevenson has made in his 7-year-old career. But keep aside the outliers; it appears safe to assume that his net worth lies somewhere between $3 and $5 million. Though he signed a hugely lucrative deal with Reebok last year, the details of which remain unclear, it is pretty much clear that the WBC lightweight champion has earned most of his money through boxing.
Edwin De Los Santos
Going back chronologically, on November 26, 2023, he met Edwin De Los Santos for the lightweight title. The fight at Nevada’s T Mobile Arena ended in his 21st career victory. According to ‘Sporty Salaries’, Shakur Stevenson took home roughly $3 million. It mainly includes the estimated $1 million purse and the 70% share of the PPV revenue.
Shuichiro Yoshino
Six months earlier, on April 8, in front of his home fans, Stevenson had defeated Shuichiro Yoshino in his first lightweight fight. The statement win helped him encash roughly $3 million, according to a story on ‘Fight TV’. So going back to the details mentioned on ‘Sporty Salaries’, where it’s mentioned $3.4 million, it can be read as a full payout, including the approximate $1 million purse and the 70% share in the PPV split.
Jamel Herring
There appears to be a near unanimity on the world champion’s first million-dollar purse. That was the October 23, 2021, fight against former world champion Jamel Herring. The victory made Shakur Stevenson a two-division champion. But aside from the feat, it also made him richer by approximately $1.5 million, it seems. Add up the PPV share, and it rises to around $3.5 million.
Title Unification and defense : Oscar Valdez and Robson Conceicao
Then take the title unification bout against Oscar Valdez. On April 30, Shakur Stevenson squared up against the Mexican boxer at the MGM Grand Arena. According to ESPN, over a million fans and followers saw the match. He had the majority of the share in the PPV split, around 70%, as reported by the Draftsking Network. So it can be guessed that his overall earnings from the clash would have surged substantially.
Shakur Stevenson agreed to pay Robson Conceicao $150,000 from his $3 million purse, sources tell ESPN, after he failed to make weight. Conceicao will now earn $350,000. Conceicao, since he made weight, would have still earned $200,000 without fighting. https://t.co/e2KcosaYwp

A few months after the Valdez fight, Shakur Stevenson’s first attempt at defending his unified title against Robson Conceicao ended in disaster. He missed meeting the weight limits. He made around $3 million from the fight. Nonetheless, he had to forfeit around $150,000 for his failure to miss the weights.

Other battles
Details are available that his gross earnings stood around $1.5 million against Jeremiah Nakathila, and then against Toka Kahn Clary and Felix Caraballo, he took around $500,000 and $450,000, respectively. However, any attempt to review further purse details on fights he fought much earlier could be subject to mere speculation.
Aside from the Shakur Stevenson-Artem Harutyunyan fight, the fight night will feature the super featherweight clash between O’Shaquie Foster and Robson Conceicao. Then Keyshawn Davis and Abdullah Mason are also expected to leave their marks at the arena.
