The boxing world thrives on rivalries, and few matchups have generated as much buzz as Shakur Stevenson vs. Gervonta Davis. These two have been circling each other for years, exchanging jabs on social media but never actually stepping into the ring together. The tension keeps building, yet somehow, their fight remains just out of reach. Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, recently reignited the debate by dismissing Davis’ resume. While he claimed, “Truthfully, I don’t really care about this sh*t,” his comments in a recent interview tell a different story. Find out what he has to say!

Speaking to Charlie Parsons from ‘The Stomping Ground’, Shakur Stevenson didn’t hold back. “His resume, I don’t respect it, just because all the clauses that he put,” he said. “I get it though. I understand it just because he’s smaller than certain guys so he gotta do these things for the advantage. As far as fighting me, I think me and him could be the biggest fight in the world. So i think it gotta happen but it’s all upto him.”

This isn’t the first time the 27-year-old has taken a shot at the Tank’s resume. He once also said, “You’re taking the less talented fighters and putting them in the ring with yourself and making them look as though they are on this level, but they’re not.”

These two have been trading insults for a while. Only last year, Davis called Stevenson an “easy fight,” while Stevenson warned that Tank was in for a “rude awakening.” That exchange was nothing new, but it set the stage for what was supposed to be their long-awaited clash.

However, the fight never happened. Negotiations collapsed, and Tank Davis was quick to put the blame on Stevenson. He claimed Stevenson ducked him, going as far as to post on X, “N*** sent him a contract he went elsewhere… get off my dk you d*k eater.”

Shakur Stevenson, however, wasn’t having it. In an interview on Cigar Talks, he fired back, “On my life, Tank a liar. If he sent me a contract, tell him to post that contract. Post that contract he sent me. That’s what I want to see.” Now, there’s another roadblock—money.

The reality of the Shakur Stevenson-Gervonta Davis match-up

Stevenson’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Gervonta Davis may possibly demand a staggering $100 million to fight Stevenson. It’s an eye-watering number, even for a mega-fight. Given their records—Davis at 30-0 (28 KOs) and Stevenson at 22-0 (10 KOs)—there’s no doubt this would be a blockbuster event. But would it be worth that much? Even if Shakur Stevenson’s team somehow meets that price, there’s still another issue. Tank has hinted that he might retire at the end of 2025. Would he really take on such a dangerous fight if he’s already thinking about hanging up his gloves?

While the super-fight remains in limbo, both men have business to handle currently. The Olympic silver-medalist will face undefeated Brit Josh Padley (15-0, 4 KOs) in Riyadh this weekend after his original opponent, Floyd Schofield Jr, pulled out at the last minute.

Gervonta Davis, meanwhile, is set to defend his WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach Jr next week at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. If both men win, the pressure to make their fight happen will only grow.

Right now, the Stevenson vs. Davis fight is all talk. One side claims contracts were sent, and the other denies it. One side wants a massive payday, the other isn’t willing to pay up. If the stars align, this could be the fight of the year. But with so many obstacles in the way, will it ever become a reality?
