Is Shakur Stevenson justified in his allegations against Andre Berto, or is he just stirring the pot?

Shakur Stevenson can’t stop making enemies with boxers! Following his bout against Artem Harutyunyan earlier this month, the Newark native seems to have entered a verbal spat with former world champion Andre Berto. Their online battle began when Stevenson started countering his critics online about his boring fighting style.

Berto, who hasn’t fought since the Robert Guerrero defeat in December 2023, seems to be one of those critics. So, Stevenson and Berto are tidally locked with each other as they hurl insults at each other on social media. However, things have taken a drastic turn, as Stevenson accused Berto with some serious allegations today.

Andre Berto and the steroid allegations

Earlier today, the former world champion turned to X, sharing a clip from his second fight against Victor Ortiz in April 2016, where he scored a fourth round knockdown, with the caption reading “Bricks”. Given the ongoing back and forth with Stevenson, Berto should have seen this one coming from a mile away!

Stevenson didn’t waste much time, as he responded to the tweet with, “Steroids”. Interestingly, back in May 2012, Berto tested positive for steroid norandrosterone, which resulted in his rematch with Ortiz—originally scheduled for June 23, 2012—to be cancelled. The bout ended up happening anyway, but it took four more years.

Regardless, things didn’t end there! Berto came back once again, writing, “It’s damn near 1:00 a.m. and this goofy snaggle tooth sensitive lil boy still got my d**k in his mouth”. Berto further added, “Lil boy go change ya tampon and take ya ass to bed and leave me alone”.

Have an interesting take?

Since the 2010s, Berto’s career has been on the downward slope, as incurred loss after loss, but after defeating Devon Alexander in 2018, it seemed like he had retired as he didn’t enter the ring for five years. While he did try to make a comeback in 2023, the loss to Guerrero didn’t prove he had much boxing left in him. Meanwhile, Berto seems eager to get rid of this beef with Stevenson.

Amid their frequent exchanges on social media lately, Andre Berto appears to have reached his limit with his younger adversary. Responding to one of Shakur Stevenson’s now-deleted tweets today, the former world champion described Stevenson as an “itch on my a**” that just won’t disappear.

Berto wrote, “Ok Shakur buddy, I need to get some rest. If u start your period again tomorrow, just go get some Midol or som it should help. Just leave dat f**k alone lol u like a itch on my a*s that won’t go away s**t Goodnight”. Not to mention, as things are between the duo, this back and forth may continue for several more days.

It looks like, Shakur Stevenson may have managed to win in the ring earlier this month, but it has caused much trouble for the boxer outside the ring. What do you think of their beef? Let’s know in the comments below!
