Months after the victory against Edwin De Los Santos, Shakur Stevenson announced retirement from the sport. Since Shakur has the potential to offer some of the biggest fights in the sport, his decision shocked a significant number of people. Anyway, yesterday, during an online banter, Shakur told Ryan Garcia that he would come out of his retirement just to face ‘KingRy’.
However, boxing fans were elated when Stevenson today reacted to a fan-made poster of Shakur vs. Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid after he converted to Islam. So, can we expect a contest between Stevenson and Wahid? Well, here is how Stevenson reacted to the mentioned poster.

Just a few days ago, out of the blue, Shakur Stevenson took to X and declared he was retiring from the sport. Although he promised to keep practicing and helping others achieve their dreams, Stevenson claimed he was done with the sport as the “boxing game” seemed “weak” to him. However, as per The Ring magazine, Shakur was not serious about hanging his gloves. Looks like they were right because Shakur positively responded to a fan-made poster of Stevenson vs. ‘Tank’.

A fan took to X and shared a poster of ‘Tank’ facing off with Shakur Stevenson. In addition, they wrote Shakur vs. Abdul Wahid would be a bigger fight than Canelo vs. Crawford, Beterbiev vs. Bivol, Fury vs. Usyk etc. At this, as the poster came to Stevenson’s notice, he reposted the tweet by saying, “Whoever made that picture they cold“. Well, with Stevenson’s interest, if Davis is in the mood too, the boxing fans can certainly expect Shakur vs. ‘Tank’ in the sport.

Shakur believed a match against ‘Tank’ would be the “best fight”
Last year, when Shakur Stevenson appeared on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, he said ‘Tank’ would be the “number one” fight for him. In his opinion, Davis vs. Shakur is the best fight in boxing as far as skills are concerned. Additionally, Stevenson claimed the fight against Davis would give him a chance to “prove to the world who I truly am“.

However, on being asked why the fight was not being made, Shakur replied that ‘Tank’ was the biggest star in the sport. Therefore, he could not throw an offer to Wahid. “He’s the big star. He’s the pay-per-view star. I can’t throw no offers to Tank. Who am I to throw an offer to the biggest star in boxing?” Shakur had said. Well, do you think a fight between the two is possible now?
